Proposal - 1st Draft April 11, 2024

The Kingdom of Fife, Scotland includes the City Dunfermline which is a Sister City with Sarasota. Two great tourist communities with great golf courses.

We propose that the Kingdom of Fife and Sarasota jointly produce The Kingdom of Fife / Sarasota Golf Championship Challenge Cup, which would be awarded to the winning team annually. One year the tournament would be in Sarasota and the following year in the Kingdom of Fife. The winning team keeps the cup for one year, returning it for the next tournament.

The rules can be developed among the golfing organizations. An unlimited number of golfers from each community could compete. The average score from each competitor team would determine who wins and gets to keep the cup for the next year. That way every golfer is actually part of the competition, and will feel that they helped win the distinguished award.

After the cup is created the golf courses and local tourist agents could set the time and location. Fife would host the tournament in the summer, while Sarasota would be in the winter. This effort could increase tourism between the two regions and promote our tourism and economy. It could develop into a large exchange.

How to do this? Fife and Sarasota Sister Cities create The Cup. Contact golf courses and travel agents in their community. They determine dates, and promote this with golfers and travelors. A week of golf and then an optional tour of the region could be marketed.

Fife has already developed a golf tour project that could easily be expanded for the first competition.
